Running Part 3 – Bad Weather Conditions & New Routes

Sometimes I want to go running but I find it inconvenient for various reasons. This might be due to it being night time, poor weather conditions, fatigue or whatever else that may be out of my control.

Buying a treadmill

As a solution, I’ve considered purchasing a treadmill even though these can be quite expensive if you want a good, reliable one. Some people argue against buying the really cheap treadmills. These ones don’t seem to be very durable for running or for anyone who is quite heavy.

My best bet seems to be searching for a second hand treadmill with good reviews. I will browse some more and then consider my options.

Accessories

I have even gone as far as buying an armband with a pocket built in for my house keys and phone. This way they are not rattling around in the pockets of my shorts or accidentally falling out as I move my legs at speed. I found this for a very cheap price online so there was no real reason for me not to buy it.

Breaking new ground

I typically stick to the same jogging route each time I head out. This only takes me out for 10 minutes each time. However, I like this arrangement as it means I’m not staying out too long and wasting the day away when I could be working.

Occasionally, I go out for longer runs when I have the time. I know from experience that there is a long footpath near where I live that goes through some farmer’s fields and then winds back around. The whole route is roughly 5 miles in total.

Rough underfoot

Although, I only really use this pathway if the weather conditions are good. Unlike the tarmac I’m used to running on, the ground here can easily become boggy and difficult. This is true even for walkers if it has been raining heavily.

It also doesn’t help that cows and sheep often roam about the land making the ground especially worn down and muddy. Another problem is the terrain itself even without farm animals.

The land that I run on can often be extremely uneven with pot holes. If the grass is overgrown then this can be especially hard to run through. You are constantly having to watch your footing so not to trip and fall rather than looking ahead of you like you should be doing.

Flybird Fitness

Some of you might not know that I often have to send out mail for my various businesses. For this reason, I take my letters and packages out with me while jogging. I will then drop them off when I pass by my nearest post box on my run. Clearly, this helps me multitask when I’m on the go.

Have you ever thought about getting a treadmill or buying any other jogging related accessories? How would you describe your ideal route for running?
