Our Problems With Email Marketing & The Weekly Newsletter

For those of you who have signed up to my email list, I’m sure at least some of you might have felt a little confused. I’m willing to bet that many of you have been wondering what the hell happened to my newsletter.

Am I the only one not receiving any updates or is this a problem for everyone? I can tell you right now that you are not alone in this issue.

The good news

This particular problem has persisted for some time now and I have tried my best to fix it. Although, I haven’t had any issues specifically in regard to collecting email addresses from willing users. This is one silver lining for me in all the chaos.

Testing out different services

The biggest problem comes down to several email marketing companies I have attempted to use in the past. In fact, I have tried so many companies that my one mailing list is now split up into many individual email lists over several websites. This is incredibly annoying and inconvenient to say the least.

Personal finance as a niche

You may not be aware of this but personal finance bloggers often struggle with email marketing. This is because of the very niche that they operate in.

As per their terms and conditions, so many email marketing services refuse to accept the business of personal finance blogs because of the nature of their content. European GDPR legislation also throws an extra spanner in the works for email marketers too.

Scams

When examining the terms of use of email services, certain topics are often forbidden. This includes the obvious things but it also encompasses areas such as “make money online”.

This specific phrase is sometimes associated with dodgy get rich quick schemes and various other scams. It’s kind of a shame as this can be unfair on sincere, genuine and honest finance bloggers.

I would never dream of sending anything like this to anyone. However, I’m sure you can understand why this might seen as a negative thing by some. Additionally, it can cause email providers to be extra cautious about who they choose to service.

Nevertheless, I have now found an email service that should allow me to send out my weekly newsletter. For now, there shouldn’t be any more issues going forward (fingers crossed).

Can you think of any email marketing services that accept the business of personal finance bloggers? When and how often would you like to receive emails from us?
