Laptop Malfunction Part 2: How Storing Data Causes Problems

It’s very possible to live with your computing problems as long as they are merely minor issues. I can usually find a way to get around this if they purely exist just as inconveniences.

The real trouble begins when there is a severe issue that prevents you from working. This will eventually cause your productivity and general efficiency to take a major hit.

Storage

Even though my PC has served me well, the most glaring area where it falls down for me is storage space. This became obvious early on during my first year of ownership. It also made sense why the laptop was so cheap in the first place.

I had to remedy this issue somewhat by purchasing an SD card. I also make the most of free cloud storage. This way I wouldn’t take up too much space on the hard drive with whatever I wanted to download.

Dealing with photos

As you might have seen, I use quite a lot of photos from pixabay to accompany the many articles on my website. Pictures and videos are particularly large files in the world of computing (for anyone who doesn’t know). For this reason, I have had to find adequate space for these photos with each download.

Unresponsiveness

Having too much data stored on my laptop has exasperated the computer’s memory. This has caused it to slow down considerably as you would expect. My computer has just gotten even more sluggish and unresponsive with each passing year. To be fair, this is typical for most technology.

This wasn’t the end of the world work-wise. However, it has created occasional unwanted disruptions . These interruptions often happen when I really want to put my nose to the grindstone but can’t resulting in a heap of frustration.

Laptop Crashes

Furthermore, the laptop soon began freezing up and crashing recently which isn’t that surprising given its age. This is really the moment when I realized that this piece of hardware was probably on its last legs. Although, this had been such a great investment thus far.

Remedies

I have found that there are certain measures I can take to help my laptop run a little smoother (by freeing up some space) such as:

  • deleting the cache
  • emptying the recycle bin
  • optimizing my system
  • erasing cookies and browser history

Storage can be a serious problem for business owners whether you are working on or offline. This is also true with or without the aid of modern technology. Furthermore, it’s smart and realistic to accept when an appliance has finally come to the end of its life after however many years of service.

Have you ever experienced any crashing, freezing or unresponsiveness on a computer that you’ve owned? What kind of storage solutions do you use for your digital files?
