I believe convenience food for an affordable price is something that people will always want in their busy lives. Fair enough, it might not be 5 star cuisine.
However, it fills stomachs so that you and your family can get on with the rest of your day. Here is a nifty little offer that I noticed recently that should interest a few of you.
What exactly are these tesco ready meals?
The product is a chicken curry with coconut and tomato sauce accompanied by a side portion of long grain rice. In terms of spice, this meal is very much on the mild side. It is still tasty nonetheless.
Each ready meal weighs 400 grams each. I find that you can often judge value in groceries fairly well by paying attention to weight in particular. One ready meal serves just one person (as you would probably expect). You can store these either through freezing or refrigeration.
Price
Shoppers can grab one of these for the low price of £0.85. This is very good value when you consider that nowadays most ready meals are at least £1 or more.
For a limited time, you can also purchase 5 of these meals for the price of 4. This is great if you have a large family or just want to stock up for yourself.
Chicken Curry Cooking Instructions
You can either zap this in the microwave for approximately 8 minutes. Alternatively, cook it in a conventional, pre-heated oven (taking no longer than 35 minutes). The latter option will probably provide better results even though it takes longer.
Where can I find these curry ready meals?
This particular product is exclusive to Tesco and the Hearty Food Company manufacture these meals. Curry aside, I know for a fact that Hearty Food offer a range of different frozen ready meals. They also sell other cheap food items at Tesco.
Do I need a tesco clubcard?
One will need to have a Tesco clubcard if you want to qualify for this promotion. If this is not the case, I can tell you from experience that it is simple and free to apply to be a Tesco clubcard member.
Personal Experience
As a Tesco shopper, I personally buy these ready meals about once a month whenever I do my big shop online. They are very easy to prepare and I enjoy them for what they are.
Drawbacks
Like any other supermarket product, the price of this item rises and falls over time. At one point, you could apparently get this ready meal for as a little as £0.65. Based on this, the deal in question isn’t as much of a bargain as it potentially could have been.
Typically, you don’t get as many pieces of chicken in this ready meal as one would prefer. This is likely reflected in the price so really you get what you pay for.
These are ideal on days when you want a quick, hot meal. This can be achieved without the hassle of cooking from scratch. Additionally, you won’t need to give up the time it takes to do loads of washing up afterwards.
Like I said before, I’ve bought and eaten these exact ready meals in the past. They are not perfect, but I would definitely recommend them to anyone on a tight budget.
